Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Summary:

A Pharmacist is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for preparing, dispensing, and reviewing medications to ensure safe and effective use. They provide expert guidance on medication therapy, educate patients on correct usage, and collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize treatment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Dispensing and Medication Management

  • Accurately dispense prescribed medications in the correct dosage and form.
  • Review prescriptions to ensure legality, appropriateness, and absence of interactions or contraindications.
  • Compound and prepare customized medications when required.
  • Maintain proper storage, security, and inventory of pharmaceutical products.

2. Patient Care and Education

  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, side effects, and storage.
  • Provide advice on over-the-counter (OTC) medications, health products, and lifestyle changes.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and maintain detailed records.

3. Collaboration with Healthcare Teams

  • Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Participate in medication therapy management (MTM) and contribute to treatment planning.
  • Monitor and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medication errors.

4. Regulatory Compliance and Documentation

  • Comply with local, state, and national pharmacy laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records for prescription dispensing and controlled substances.
  • Stay updated with new pharmaceutical products, research, and best practices.

5. Quality Assurance and Safety

  • Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and handling of all medications.
  • Monitor stock for expiration dates and remove outdated or defective drugs.
  • Implement infection control and safety protocols in the pharmacy.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm / D.Pharm / Pharm.D).
  • Valid pharmacist license/registration as per local regulatory authority.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and drug interactions.
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and maintaining digital records.

Work Environment:

  • Hospitals, community pharmacies, retail pharmacies, clinics, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹11,715.18 - ₹25,069.10 per month
