Job Description

A Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in History and Political Science is responsible for teaching these subjects to senior secondary students, typically in grades 11 and 12. The role involves developing and delivering lesson plans, evaluating student performance, and preparing students for board examinations. Additionally, PGTs may be involved in curriculum development, mentoring students, and participating in school-related activities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery:Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans and teaching materials for History and Political Science, aligning with the school's curriculum and examination board guidelines (e.g., CBSE).
  • Student Assessment:Evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and exams, providing constructive feedback to help them improve.
  • Subject Matter Expertise:Maintain a strong understanding of the subject matter, staying updated on current events, research, and pedagogical best practices.
  • Mentorship and Guidance:Mentor and guide students, providing academic support and career advice.
  • Classroom Management:Create a positive and productive learning environment, fostering student participation and engagement.
  • Curriculum Development:Contribute to the development and revision of the curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of students and aligns with educational standards.
  • Parent Communication:Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress and address any concerns.
  • School Activities:Participate in school events, meetings, and other activities as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-Graduate Degree: A Master's degree in History and/or Political Science is essential.
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.): A B.Ed. degree or equivalent teaching qualification is typically required.
  • Teaching Experience: Relevant teaching experience, particularly in a school setting, is often preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are crucial.
  • Subject Matter Knowledge: A strong command of the subject matter, including relevant historical and political theories, concepts, and events.
  • Pedagogical Skills: Proficiency in developing and implementing effective teaching strategies and assessment methods.
  • Other Skills: Depending on the school, additional skills such as familiarity with CBSE guidelines, experience with technology in education, and strong interpersonal skills may also be required.
