Job Description

PESO stands for Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization in India. It is the regulatory authority under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. PESO plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and regulation of hazardous substances like explosives, petroleum, compressed gases, and other dangerous materials. Key Job Responsibilities of PESO: 1. Regulation & Safety Oversight Enforces the Explosives Act, 1884, and associated rules such as: Petroleum Rules, 2002 Explosives Rules, 2008 Gas Cylinder Rules, 2016 Static and Mobile Pressure Vessels (Unfired) Rules, 2016 Ensures the safe manufacture, storage, transport, and use of explosives and hazardous substances. 2. Licensing & Approval Grants licenses for: Manufacturing and storage of explosives Petroleum product storage depots and refineries CNG, LNG, and LPG bottling plants Gas cylinder manufacturing/testing units Approves designs of tanks, cylinders, and pressure vessels. 3. Inspection & Monitoring Conducts regular inspections of: Petroleum installations and refineries Explosive factories and magazines Gas cylinder plants Verifies compliance with safety standards and legal requirements. 4. Accident Investigation Investigates accidents involving: Explosives Petroleum products Compressed gases Recommends corrective measures and safety improvements. 5. Technical Consultancy Provides expert advice to: Central and state governments Industries handling hazardous materials Suggests improvements in safety practices and legislation. 6. Standardization and Policy Input Participates in the formulation of: Indian Standards (in coordination with BIS) International safety guidelines Provides input for policy development related to hazardous materials. 7. Public Awareness and Training Organizes training programs and awareness campaigns for: Industry professionals Law enforcement agencies General public on safety practices 8. Research and Development Promotes and supports research in: Safe handling and storage of hazardous materials Innovative safety technologies Job Type: Full-time Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month Schedule: Day shift Work Location: In person
