Job Description

Provide consultation to the physician in the selection of the appropriate equipment and techniques to be used during extracorporeal circulation. To conduct extracorporeal circulation and ensure the safe management of physiologic functions by monitoring the necessary variables. Job Responsibilities: Sets up and operates heart-lung machine in hospital to take over functions of patients heart and lungs during surgery or respiratory failure: Reviews patient medical history and chartand consults with surgeon or physician to obtain patient information needed to set up heart-lung machine and associated equipment. Selectsassembles sets upand tests heart-lung machine to ensure that machine and associated equipment function according to specifications. Operates heart-lung machine to regulate blood circulation and compositionto administer drugs and anesthetic agentsand to control body temperature during surgery or respiratory failure of patient. Monitors and observes operation of heart-lung machine and patients physiologic variables such as blood temperatureblood compositionand flow rateand adjusts equipment to maintain normal body functions. Cleans and adjusts parts of heart-lung machine. Candidate Requirements: Able to work accurately and with minimal supervision. Ability to comprehend written instructions given by the related departmental personnel. Ability to plan & organize ones work schedule effectively. Speaking and listening are essential requirements to understand and carry out the instructions given by the supervisors and other related departmental personnel. Affinity to work in team.
