Role: Performance Engineer – Distributed Database Testing

Work Mode:Remote


Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Performance Engineer to join our team to design, implement, and execute comprehensive performance testing strategies for distributed database systems. This role requires expertise in chaos engineering, load testing, and distributed systems performance analysis to ensure our database infrastructure can handle production workloads reliably and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design performance test suites for databases
  • Run load/stress/volume tests across distributed nodes
  • Analyze metrics like latency, throughput, and resource use
  • Execute chaos engineering experiments (node failure, network partitions)
  • Build automated testing pipelines and observability dashboards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance performance and scalability

Must-Have Skills

  • Experience with distributed databases: 

    Cassandra

    , 

    MongoDB

    , 

    DynamoDB

    , etc.
  • Familiarity with 

    ACID

    , 

    CAP theorem

    , consensus algorithms
  • Tools: 

    JMeter

    , 

    Chaos Monkey

    , 

    Prometheus

    , 

    Grafana

    , 

    Docker

    , 

    Kubernetes

    , 

    Terraform

  • Strong in 

    Java

    , 

    Python

    , and scripting (Shell, PowerShell)
  • CI/CD expertise: 

    Jenkins

    , 

    GitLab CI

Experience & Quals

  • 5+ yrs in performance engineering
  • 3+ yrs with distributed database systems
  • Experience implementing chaos experiments
  • Solid grasp of distributed systems concepts and testing at scale

Preferred

  • Exposure to ML for performance prediction
  • Real-time analytics, blockchain familiarity
  • Cloud & database certifications (AWS, MongoDB, Cassandra)
