We are looking for an experienced Payments Business Analyst to support end-to-end business analysis across payments transformation, modernization, and operations programs. The role requires strong expertise in payment lifecycles (initiation, screening, settlement, reconciliation, reporting) and familiarity with standards like ISO 2, SWIFT, A, RTP, FedNow, and UPI .
The analyst will act as a bridge between business, product, and technology teams , translating business needs into detailed functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring delivery of efficient, compliant, and modernized payment solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Requirements & Process Analysis
- Engage with business users and operations to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
- Develop detailed AS-IS and TO-BE process maps across payments workflows, identifying pain points and opportunities for automation.
- Translate requirements into clear BRDs, FRDs , and user stories.
- Conduct impact assessment for changes linked to modernization initiatives (ISO 2, RTP, FedNow).
- Payments Transformation Support
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Technology teams for system enhancements, message mapping, API integration, and migration activities .
- Support UAT planning, test case definition, and issue resolution across payments programs.
- Analyze data flows across payment systems for reconciliation, exception handling, and operational reporting improvements.
- Regulatory & Control Alignment
- Ensure alignment with AML, sanctions screening, and regulatory compliance (PSD2, UETR, OFAC, FATF) during design and implementation.
- Document business rules, validations, and control mechanisms for risk mitigation and audit compliance.
- Stakeholder & Change Management
- Conduct workshops with cross-functional teams (Operations, Risk, Treasury, and Technology).
- Support communication of project up , readiness assessments, and training documentation for go-lives.
Skills Required:
- 7-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst in Payments, Transaction Banking, or Core Banking transformation .
- Strong understanding of payment schemes and standards (SWIFT, A, ACH, RTP, ISO 2, CBPR+).
- Experience preparing BRDs, FRDs, data mapping documents , and use cases for payment processing systems.
- Familiarity with payment hubs (e.g., Finastra, VolPay, FIS, Temenos, Murex Payments).
- Experience in message formats (MT/MX), XML/JSON , and exposure to API-based integrations .
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in documenting business flows and dependencies.
- Exposure to tools like JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or Signavio for workflow documentation and requirement tracking.
- Good understanding of operational risk controls, sanctions, AML workflows , and regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and ability to work across global teams.
