Job Summary:
The Packaging Technician Level II supports site packaging operations under moderate supervision, focusing on process improvement, returnable packaging coordination, and adherence to Cummins Global Packaging Standards. The role includes cross-functional collaboration to resolve packaging-related issues affecting safety, quality, and productivity. The technician actively supports project improvement initiatives led by departments including Packaging, Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Duties
- Coordinate returnable packaging programs, ensuring accurate inventory tracking and proper maintenance and cleanliness of packaging materials.
- Support Document Management Systems (DMS) and COE India plants by maintaining accurate packaging attributes for PFEP and material master updates.
- Gather and input data into PDMS for inbound/outbound packaging specifications and VPI programs.
- Assist with revision control for packaging processes and materials (e.g., repack instructions, supplier data).
- Perform packaging compliance audits and report violations using CQMS or through engagement with SQE and procurement.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on packaging quality, sustainability, and process efficiency.
- Collaborate with Packaging Engineering and Quality to resolve packaging non-conformances and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure packaging material and methods align with Cummins Global Packaging Standards.
- Support quality management by submitting packaging defect reports and contributing to corrective action planning.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
- Stop work and report major safety hazards, injuries, or environmental concerns immediately.
- Comply with all HSE standards, policies, and regulations.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and correct hazards within control.
- Minimize the environmental impact of packaging practices.

Education, Licenses, and Certifications
Education
:- Diploma or degree in Engineering or Science required.
- Packaging diploma or post-graduate certification preferred (e.g., from the Indian Institute of Packaging).
Licenses/Certifications
:- Must have or obtain certification to operate powered industrial vehicles (e.g., reach trucks, order pickers).
- May require licensing for compliance with export controls or international trade regulations.
Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in the automotive, manufacturing, or packaging industry preferred.
- Prior experience with document control systems (DMS), packaging audits, and returnable packaging programs is advantageous.
