Job Description

Role Summary

The OTC Welding Robot Programmer is responsible for programming, operating, optimizing, and maintaining OTC robotic welding systems to ensure high-quality welds, improved productivity, and minimal downtime. The role involves close coordination with production, quality, and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate OTC robotic welding systems (arc welding – MIG/MAG/TIG).
  • Develop, modify, and optimize robot programs to meet production and quality targets.
  • Perform teach pendant programming, touch-up, and offline programming where applicable.
  • Set welding parameters including current, voltage, wire feed speed, and travel speed.
  • Conduct trial runs, debugging, and cycle time optimization.
  • Ensure weld quality as per WPS, drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with fixture design and tooling teams for optimal robot access and accuracy.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of robots, controllers, and welding equipment.
  • Analyze welding defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain robot programs, backup data, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, 5S, Lean, and Kaizen practices.
  • Support production ramp-up and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Hands-on experience with OTC welding robots and controllers.
  • Strong knowledge of arc welding processes (MIG/MAG/TIG).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.
  • Understanding of jigs, fixtures, and automation layouts.
  • Experience in troubleshooting welding defects and robot alarms.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC interfacing and sensors is an advantage.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
  • 2–6 years of relevant experience in robotic welding programming (automotive or heavy fabrication preferred).
  • OTC robot certification will be an added advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Shop-floor and automation cell environment.
  • Shift-based work as per production requirements.
  • Occasional travel for installation, commissioning, or customer support.

  • Robot uptime and cycle time efficiency
  • Reduction in welding defects and rework
  • Compliance with safety and quality standards

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
