Job Description

Role & responsibilities • To ensure general cleanliness of the O.T. area. To ensure that no person enters the sterilized zone except those whose duties carry them to the theatre complex. To ensure proper and periodical sterilization of each theatre by rotation and ensure that one O.T. is always available for emergencies. To manage all the medical equipment, general items, O.T. linen and special instruments and maintain proper receipt of issue and distribution chart of the inventory. To check all the critical equipments about their serviceability and where required take remedial measures for their preventive maintenance and repair. • To keep a watch and where ever necessary check the medical and other staff who are not following strict and aseptic techniques. Authorized visitors to theatre will also put on the head gear, mask and change their foot wears in order to keep the hospital infection rate at the minimum. To periodically get the bacterial contents of the O.T. examined by the Microbiology section of the hospital laboratory so as to ensure that O.Ts. are properly sterilized. To visit all the theatres in schedule programme in order to keep a check on the men and materials of O.T. complex. To ensure that the patients are transferred from ward to OT complex and then to O.T as per the schedule. She should ensure cleaning of theater in service cases and also be present in OTs during surgery at random to check availability of material /or solve any problem therefore. To prepare a duty roster for the theatre staff and also arranging/adjusting for the staff on leaves. • To ensure close liaison with OT staff and Doctors so that negligence do not occur in the operation theater. Where absolutely necessary she/he should be ready to wash-up and assist the operating surgeons. To prepare a duty roster for the theatre staff and also arranging/adjusting for the staff on leaves. To maintain operation appointments registers and allot O.T. to the surgeons on first come first serve basis except in emergency/ special situations. To maintain a register for the utilization time of each operation, doctor and patient-wise as the patients will be billed accordingly. Minimum Qualification • Should have minimum GNM or BSc. Nursing.
