Job Title: Operation Theatre (OT) Assistant – ENT Hospital Department: Operation Theatre Job Summary: The Operation Theatre Assistant will support the surgical team in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of ENT surgeries. This includes preparing the theatre, assisting with equipment and instrument handling, ensuring sterility, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The role requires close coordination with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other OT staff. Key Responsibilities: Preoperative Duties: Prepare the operating theatre with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for ENT procedures. Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized and in proper working condition. Assist in positioning and preparing the patient for surgery under supervision. Intraoperative Duties: Assist surgeons and OT nurses during ENT procedures by providing instruments, suction, or other support as required. Monitor and maintain aseptic conditions throughout the surgery. Handle and dispose of surgical waste following infection control protocols. Postoperative Duties: Help in the transfer of patients from the OT to the recovery area. Clean and disinfect surgical instruments and the operation theatre after procedures. Restock OT supplies and update inventory records as needed. Administrative & Support Duties: Maintain accurate logs of surgical instruments, usage, and sterilization. Follow hospital protocols for patient safety, infection control, and occupational health. Assist with other duties assigned by the OT supervisor or medical staff. Qualifications & Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification or Diploma in OT Technician/Assistant course (preferred). Prior experience in an ENT OT setting is an advantage. Basic knowledge of ENT surgical procedures and instruments. Key Skills & Competencies: Good understanding of sterile techniques and infection control. Ability to handle surgical instruments and equipment safely. Strong attention to detail and sense of responsibility. Good communication and teamwork skills. Physical stamina and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Working Hours: Rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays as per surgical schedules.
