Role Overview

The Oracle Retail RMS Techno-Functional Consultant will be responsible for implementing, configuring, enhancing, and supporting Oracle Retail RMS and its related Oracle Retail suite modules. The role requires strong functional knowledge of retail merchandising processes along with technical expertise in Oracle Retail architecture, data models, and integration frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements related to merchandising, purchasing, item management, and inventory processes.
• Configure and support core RMS modules such as:
• Items & Suppliers
• Purchase Orders
• Inventory Management
• Pricing & Costing
• Allocation / Replenishment (if in scope)
• Participate in solution design workshops and prepare functional specifications (MD050/BRD).
• Support SIT, UAT, and production rollout by creating test cases, validating data, and troubleshooting issues.
• Provide functional recommendations and best practices based on Oracle Retail standards.

Technical Responsibilities

• Develop technical designs (MD070) and oversee development for customizations, extensions, and data interfaces.
• Work with tools/technologies such as:
• Oracle SQL / PL-SQL
• Oracle Retail Data Model (RMS Schema)
• ORPOS, ORIN, SIM (as required)
• Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or SOA (if applicable)
• Develop and debug batch jobs, RIB integration, RSB services, and custom PL/SQL packages.
• Support performance tuning and data migration activities for RMS.
• Analyze and resolve system defects, performance issues, and integration failures.

Required Skills & Experience

Functional Skills

• Strong understanding of retail merchandising processes (Buying, Item Setup, Costing, Pricing, Inventory).
• Hands-on experience in Oracle Retail RMS versions (v14, v16, v19, v23 or cloud).
• Experience in business process mapping and functional documentation.

Technical Skills

• Solid experience with:
• SQL / PL-SQL
• RIB (Retail Integration Bus)
• RSB (Retail Service Backbone)
• Batch jobs & Oracle Retail technical architecture
• Experience with integration tools (OIC, ODI, SOA) is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of Java and Unix shell scripting is a plus.

General Skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and client-interfacing abilities.
• Ability to work in agile or waterfall environments.
