Oracle Database Administration Subject Matter Expert

About the Role :

We are seeking a highly experienced Database - Subject Matter Expert (SME) with hands-on expertise in database administration, performance optimization, high availability, observability and automation in large-scale distributed environments. Experience working in the Telecommunication domain handling high-volume, real-time data, event-driven architectures, provisioning systems, billing systems or network management systems is a strong advantage. This role will manage and optimize mission-critical databases that support telecom-grade workloads with strict SLAs, low latency and high reliability.Primary Responsibilities :
- Administer, monitor and optimize production database systems (MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas, Oracle, AWS RDS).- Perform installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, clustering and replication.- Automate schema/version changes using Liquibase.- Ensure high availability, replication, failover, and multi-region deployments.- Plan and execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.- Troubleshoot critical performance issues, slow queries, deadlocks, replication failures.- Optimize performance across queries, indexing, caching, memory, and storage.- Deploy and manage containerized database workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.- Integrate and operate distributed systems like Redis/Elastic Cache, ETCD, RabbitMQ, AMQ, Kafka.- Build automation using Shell/Python scripting and tools like Ansible/Terraform.- Implement proactive monitoring and alerting with New Relic, Grafana and other APM/logging systems.- Generate performance dashboards, trend analysis and optimization recommendations.- Work closely with application teams on schema design, indexing and query tuning.- Maintain strong database security, auditing, encryption, RBAC and compliance (GDPR/HIPAA/SOC2).- Prepare documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams and troubleshooting guides.- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.Required Skills & Qualifications :
- 10+ years of experience in database engineering and administration.- Hands-on administration experience with :

1. MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas, Oracle, AWS RDS

2. Schema/version management : Liquibase
- Strong SQL and NoSQL fundamentals.- Experience with distributed caching and message queues :

1. ETCD, Redis, Elastic Cache, RabbitMQ, AMQ, Kafka
- Experience with New Relic and Grafana for monitoring, alerting, dashboarding, performance insights.- Strong Linux, networking, system tuning expertise.- Advanced performance tuning and query optimization skills.- Automation experience : Ansible and Terraform.- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized DB deployments.- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and RCA skills.- Strong communication and documentation ability.Nice to Have :
