Job Description

  • Conduct detailed eye examinations (visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision, color vision)
  • Perform preliminary diagnostic tests: slit-lamp examination, tonometry, keratometry, fundus evaluation (as per scope)
  • Identify and manage refractive errors and common eye conditions; refer complex cases to ophthalmologists
  • Assist in pre-operative and post-operative assessment and patient counseling
  • Prescribe and dispense spectacles and contact lenses; provide fitting, training, and follow-up care
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with clinical protocols and hospital SOPs
  • Participate in community outreach, vision screening camps, and patient education programs
  • Ensure infection control, equipment calibration, and adherence to quality standards
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses, counselors, and technicians for coordinated care An Optometrist is responsible for delivering comprehensive eye care services, including vision testing, diagnosis of refractive errors, detection of ocular diseases, and coordination with ophthalmologists to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
