Role & responsibilities

NURSING MANAGERS / IN-CHARGES are the vital component in health care settings. Responsible to supervise the nursing team and other clinical as WARD AS A UNIT .That includes direction , oversight , patient care , and some management in budget decision related to nursing care in her /his allotted area

Preferred candidate profile

BSc / GNM with 10-15 years of experience

• Ensure nursing is practiced in accordance with professional values and moral principles and maintains confidentiality as appropriate.
• Ensure performance of nursing practice remains in line with the facility, hospital policies, procedures and standards.
• Directs, supervises and evaluates the activities of assigned units / wards.
• Evaluate the quality of nursing care.
• Identifies the training / educational needs of nursing staff .
• Identifies, analyzes and resolves administrative problems by direct intervention or by notification of appropriate personnel.
• Collaborates with doctors, specialists and administrative personnel to solve patients problems.
• Performs regular rounds accompanied by charge nurse of assigned units to ensure quality patient care.
• Acts as a role model to enhance the professional nursing image and acts as an advocate for patients and staff.
• Investigates and evaluates reports of unusual occurrence, takes timely and appropriate action including completion of necessary documentation, and notifies the concerned staff.
• Participates in Nursing Continuous quality Improvement initiatives, in service education programs, unit / ward meetings, and committee functions as assigned.
• Ensures hospital equipment remains in safe operating condition.
• Acts as a leader to encourage all staff personnel.
• Participates in orienting new employees.
• Initiates emergency safety practices and fire safety measures as necessary.
• Maintain appropriate nursing competencies in line with NABH guidelines and continues personal professional development.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Check the list of new admission, posted for surgery, post surgery, discharge patient.
• Be aware of patients on O2, transfusion or any other tubing’s.
• Should know details about transfer in, transfer out and cross consulting.
• Audits the patient’s medical record to determine that all orders have been carried out, that laboratory tests are posted, delivered nursing care is documented, and patient progress or lack of progress is described.
• Supervising nursing staff and monitoring their needs.
• Supervise nursing staff as they complete their assigned tasks and point out any changes or improve that need assistance
• Address patient complaints in a timely fashion to ensure patient satisfaction
• Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in clients' conditions Observes nurses and visits clients to ensure that proper nursing care is provided
• Ensure proper cleanliness of the area.
• Knows the responsibilities of all nursing staff members and utilizes this knowledge when preparing assignments for staff members.
• Utilizes the talents of all members of the nursing staff.
• Demonstrates leadership through clinical practice and teaching.
