Network Technician

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Network Technician to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer networking and IT infrastructure, with experience in both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). You will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our network systems, ensuring high availability and security while supporting various technologies and protocols.

Duties

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation of all systems.
• Implement and manage security measures such as VPNs, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
• Collaborate with the IT team to support cloud security initiatives and manage data center operations.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and apply necessary patches or updates to maintain network integrity.
• Support network installation projects, ensuring adherence to best practices in network architecture.
• Utilize scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation tasks related to network management.
• Document network configurations, changes, and procedures for future reference.

Skills

• Proficient in WAN/LAN technologies including Cisco ASA, Meraki, and Cisco routers.
• Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP).
• Experience with network security practices including encryption methods and authentication protocols such as LDAP and SSO.
• Familiarity with IT infrastructure components including SANs, load balancing solutions, and high availability setups.
• Knowledge of operating systems such as Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu, Windows, macOS, Solaris, and openSUSE.
• Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware vSphere and Citrix.
• Proficient in using monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or PRTG for network performance analysis.
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure for managing cloud-based networking solutions.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment with a focus on DevOps practices for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
