Network Planning Specialist

Role Overview: You will be joining Telstra's global network team as a Network Planning Specialist, responsible for strategic planning, design, and capacity management of the multi-vendor backbone network. Your role will involve leveraging technical expertise and financial acumen to ensure network scalability, diversity requirements, and customer experience. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and execute strategic capacity plans for the global IP backbone to support growth projections. - Monitor network utilization and traffic trends, identifying potential bottlenecks and using forecasting models for future capacity requirements. - Provide technical guidance for routing policies, advanced BGP configurations, Segment Routing architectures, and Quality of Service designs. - Develop and maintain scripts for network automation and reporting, including creating intuitive dashboards for key planning data. - Present regular reports on network health, growth, and strategic initiatives to leadership. Qualifications Required: - Experience: 10+ years with a minimum of 5 years in network planning and design within a large service provider environment. - Certifications: Mandatory CCNA and JNCIA. - Hardware Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper backbone router platforms. - Routing Protocols: Expert-level knowledge of BGP and strong understanding of ISIS. - Core Technologies: Practical experience with Segment Routing and fundamental understanding of QoS principles. - Automation: Proficiency in Python scripting for automating network data tasks. - Soft Skills: Strong financial acumen, excellent communication, adaptability to new technologies, creative problem-solving, discipline, and results-oriented mindset.
