Job Description

Position Summary The Network Engineer will play a crucial role in setting up, maintaining, and optimizing network infrastructure for both on-premises and cloud environments. You will be responsible for configuring network devices, establishing secure connectivity, and supporting the network setup for AI Labs as a service. Your focus will be on ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of the network that underpins cloud-native applications and AI platforms. This role requires hands-on expertise with modern network setups, cloud networking, and AI lab infrastructure design. You will collaborate with cloud & platform engineers, multiple stakeholders, ecosystems, platform & site reliability engineering teams and global IT teams etc to deliver seamless end-to-end network solutions in hybrid environments, ensuring optimal performance and security. The role also requires engaging with clients to deliver thought leadership and best practices in network architecture for next-gen technologies. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership Network Setup & Management : Lead the end-to-end setup of network infrastructure, both on-premises and in cloud environments, ensuring seamless connectivity, security, and scalability. AI Lab Infrastructure : Design and implement network solutions to support AI Lab as a service, application workloads, ensuring high availability, robust performance, and security for AI workloads. Network Switching & Routing : Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN technologies. Cloud & Hybrid Network Integration : Implement hybrid cloud solutions, leveraging public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premises infrastructure for seamless network integration. Automation & Orchestration : Implement network automation practices, using tools such as Ansible and Terraform to streamline configuration management and deployments. Service Delivery & innovation Network Infrastructure Support : Provide ongoing support for network infrastructure, troubleshooting issues across public cloud and on-premises environments. AI Network Solutions : Ensure that the AI lab infrastructure has a secure, scalable, and high-performance network that meets the needs of AI workloads. Observability & Monitoring : Deploy observability solutions for proactive network monitoring and performance optimization. Network Security : Ensure network security through proper configuration of firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation to protect cloud-native applications and AI systems. Thought leadership and Client Engagements Client Interaction : Act as a network subject matter expert, guiding clients in the design and implementation of network solutions that support AI, cloud-native applications, and hybrid cloud environments. Workshops & Training : Lead workshops and training sessions with team to share best practices for network setup and management in hybrid and cloud-native environments. Strategic Guidance : Provide strategic insights into the evolving needs of clients, offering tailored network solutions that align with business objectives. Mandatory Skills & Experience Hands-on Networking Expertise: Proven experience with configuring network switches, routers, and firewalls across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud). Hands-on experience with cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP) and integration with on-premises network infrastructure. Proficiency in SD-WAN, VPNs, and network security protocols (IPSec, SSL/TLS, etc.). Experience setting up and optimizing networks for AI workloads, especially within cloud environments. Cloud & Hybrid Network Integration: Solid understanding of hybrid cloud networking, including cloud peering, private connections (e.g., Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect), and multi-cloud solutions. Automation & Configuration Management: Expertise in network automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and scripting languages (Python, Shell scripting). Knowledge of network configuration management and orchestration for large-scale environments. Observability & Monitoring: Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stacks). Strong knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving network performance issues using observability tools. Security & Compliance: Extensive experience in securing network infrastructures, including firewall configuration, access control, VPN setup, and network segmentation. Familiarity with cloud security best practices for networking (e.g., identity-based access controls, encryption, secure VPN tunnels). Certifications (Added Advantage): Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher. VMware Certified Professional (VCP) in networking. Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) with networking focus. Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer). Desired Skills & Experience Advanced Networking & Security: Deep knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network automation tools. Expertise in deploying and managing Kubernetes networking (e.g., Istio service mesh, Calico) and associated technologies. Experience in network design for high-availability, high-performance, and low-latency applications, especially AI and data-intensive workloads. Cloud-Native & Hybrid Infrastructure: Expertise in designing and deploying network solutions for hybrid cloud environments. Familiarity with containerized applications and microservices architectures, including network policies and ingress controllers. Collaboration & Development: Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments, with an understanding of GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized applications. Experience in client-facing roles, working closely with project managers, sales teams, and technical stakeholders to deliver tailored network solutions. Soft Skills and Behavioural Competencies Communication & Collaboration : Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage with cross-functional teams and clients effectively. Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex networking issues quickly and efficiently. Leadership & Innovation : Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers while driving continuous improvement and innovation within network engineering practices. Client-Focused : Ability to understand client needs, provide actionable insights, and implement solutions that align with client goals. Adaptability : Self-motivated, proactive, and quick to adapt to new technologies and approaches.
