Job Description

Responsibilities

Oversee the management of medical records, ensuring they are organized, accurate, and accessible for healthcare professionals

Develop and implement policies and procedures for the maintenance of patient records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate documentation of medical information

Analyze data from medical records to support clinical and administrative decision-making

Train and supervise staff involved in medical records management, fostering a team-oriented environment

Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and other relevant laws

Regularly audit medical records to ensure quality and compliance with healthcare standards

Facilitate the transition to electronic health records (EHR) systems, providing support and guidance as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field

Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred

Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical records management or a similar role in a healthcare setting

Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and the Joint Commission standards

Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and health information technologies

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively
