Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions for accuracy, providing drug-related advice, and ensuring safe and effective patient care.

The role involves maintaining pharmacy inventory, adhering to regulatory standards, and supporting overall pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

Dispensing & Prescription Management

Review and interpret doctor prescriptions for accuracy and clarity.
Dispense medicines as per prescription and ensure correct dosage.
Provide medication counselling to patients regarding usage, side effects, and precautions.
Ensure no expired or damaged medicines are dispensed.

Patient Support & Guidance

Educate patients on drug interactions, storage, and treatment adherence.
Address patient queries related to medicines and health products.
Support chronic disease patients with medication management.

Inventory & Store Management

Maintain stock levels of medicines, consumables, and pharmacy supplies.
Check expiry dates, batch numbers, and storage conditions regularly.
Manage purchase orders and coordinate with distributors/vendors.
Ensure proper storage of medicines (temperature, humidity, etc.).

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure adherence to pharmacy regulations and legal requirements (Drugs & Cosmetics Act).
Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, controlled drugs, and sales.
Follow SOPs for dispensing and pharmacy operations.
