Medical lab Technician

The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for collecting samples, performing laboratory tests, preparing reports, and ensuring accuracy and quality in diagnostic services. The role involves operating lab equipment, maintaining records, and supporting physicians with reliable test results.

Sample Collection & Processing

• Collect blood, urine, sputum, and other samples from patients following proper procedures.
• Label and store samples accurately to avoid mix-ups.
• Prepare specimens for testing using appropriate techniques.

Laboratory Testing

• Perform routine and specialized tests (hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, etc.).
• Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment such as analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges, etc.
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by following SOPs.
• Maintain quality control standards and participate in QC/QA programs.

Reporting & Documentation

• Document test results accurately and enter details into the system.
• Prepare lab reports and share results with doctors or authorized personnel.
• Maintain patient records, logs, and inventory of lab supplies.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow sterilization procedures, infection control guidelines, and biosafety precautions.
• Dispose of bio-medical waste as per regulatory norms.
• Ensure compliance with NABL, safety standards, and institutional protocols.

Operational Support

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.
• Monitor stock levels of reagents, chemicals, and consumables.
• Assist in training junior technicians or interns if required.
