Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and nurturing Mother Teacher to join our primary school team. The Mother Teacher will be responsible for teaching and guiding a specific class of young learners, typically from Kindergarten to Grade 2. The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment, fostering the emotional, social, and academic development of children. The Mother Teacher will also act as the primary point of contact for students, parents, and the school community, ensuring the well-being and success of the students under their care. Key Responsibilities: Classroom Teaching & Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons across subjects (e.g., English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies) for the assigned class. Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote both academic and social development. Use diverse teaching methods, including hands-on activities, group work, play-based learning, and technology, to make lessons engaging and interactive. Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that supports all learning styles and abilities. Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Assess student progress regularly through informal observations, quizzes, projects, and assignments. Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance, behavior, and development. Identify and address any learning or behavioral challenges and provide additional support when needed. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and behavior. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and well-disciplined classroom environment. Encourage students to express themselves, share ideas, and collaborate with peers. Promote positive behaviors through consistent rules, routines, and reinforcement strategies. Create a supportive atmosphere where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn. Parental Communication & Support: Maintain regular communication with parents about their child’s progress, achievements, and areas for improvement. Conduct parent-teacher meetings to discuss student development, challenges, and strategies for improvement. Provide guidance and support to parents in addressing any concerns related to their child’s learning or behavior. Curriculum Implementation & Adaptation: Follow the school’s prescribed curriculum and adapt it to meet the needs of individual students. Integrate thematic or project-based learning to make the curriculum relevant and engaging. Ensure that lessons are structured to balance academic learning with physical, emotional, and social development. Student Well-Being & Development: Foster a caring and supportive environment that promotes students’ emotional, social, and moral development. Help students build self-confidence, social skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Be attentive to the individual needs and welfare of each student, providing additional support as necessary. Classroom Organization & Resources: Organize classroom materials, resources, and learning aids to ensure a conducive learning environment. Create bulletin boards, displays, and educational materials that enhance learning and create a stimulating classroom environment. Ensure that students’ personal belongings and school materials are well organized and maintained. Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in teaching and child development. Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and school leadership to share resources and strategies for student success. Engage in self-reflection and seek feedback to improve teaching methods and classroom management. Qualifications & Skills: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent certification. Relevant certification in Early Childhood Education or Primary Education is preferred. Experience: Experience teaching young children in a primary school or early childhood education setting. Knowledge of child development, learning theories, and best practices in early education. Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to create a nurturing and positive classroom environment. Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of young learners’ needs. Creativity in lesson planning and delivering engaging, interactive lessons. Proficiency in using technology and digital tools to enhance learning. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle diverse classroom dynamics.
