Migration Consultant

Role & responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the end-to-end migration of .NET code repositories from GitLab to GitHub, including preserving commit history, branches, tags, and metadata.
• Migrate and convert GitLab CI/CD pipelines to GitHub Actions workflows, ensuring equivalent build, test, and deployment processes.
• Automate repository imports and pipeline conversions using GitHub CLI, GitHub Actions Importer, and scripting languages like PowerShell or Python.
• Manage migration of project assets such as issues, merge requests (converted to pull requests), labels, and collaborator permissions.
• Troubleshoot migration issues related to large repos, access control, secrets management, and pipeline compatibility.
• Establish best practices and document migration procedures to support ongoing or phased transitions.

Required candidate profile

We need candidates with CI/CD experience and .Net skills.

Gitlab to Github migration

• Strong experience with GitLab and GitHub platforms including API, CLI, and import/export capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of the .NET framework and ecosystem, including build and test tools
• Experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD and converting pipelines from GitLab CI.
• Expertise in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
• Familiarity with GitHub repository management, access control, branch policies, and secrets.
• Strong understanding of containerization (Docker) and cloud DevOps practices (preferably Azure and/or AWS).
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with effective communication and collaboration abilities.
