Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and skilled Microbiology Technician to support the operations of our microbiology laboratory. The candidate must have a B.Sc. in Microbiology and 5-10 years of clinical laboratory experience , with strong technical knowledge of microbiological diagnostics. The role includes performing culture and sensitivity testing, maintaining equipment, and ensuring high-quality results in accordance with medical and laboratory standards. Key Responsibilities: Conduct microbiological tests including aerobic/anaerobic culture, Gram staining, AFB staining, KOH mount, and fungal cultures. Perform antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) using manual or automated methods. Handle clinical specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, pus, and swabs with proper aseptic techniques. Prepare and maintain culture media, reagents, and stains. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., incubators, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets). Follow proper sterilization and infection control protocols. Ensure compliance with laboratory quality assurance and control procedures. Accurately document and report test results using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). Assist in maintaining laboratory records as per NABL/NABH standards. Collaborate with pathologists and clinicians for test interpretation when needed. Participate in internal audits and external quality assessments. Key Skills: Strong hands-on experience in clinical microbiology diagnostics Expertise in culture techniques and antibiotic sensitivity testing Knowledge of aseptic techniques and biosafety practices Familiarity with NABL/NABH documentation and lab standards Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and maintain equipment Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills Proficient in LIS and basic computer operations Effective communication and teamwork abilities
