Job Title: Senior Manager Steel Plant Equipment (Mechanical) Location: Yamunanagar, Haryana Experience Required: 15+ years Qualification: B.E./B.Tech Mechanical Engineering About the Role: We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of steel plant equipment such as palletizing discs, transfer cars, material handling systems, conveyors, and heavy welded/fabricated structures. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end design, engineering calculations, structural validation, and supporting manufacturing and commissioning activities. Key Responsibilities: Lead the conceptual and detailed mechanical design of palletizing discs, transfer cars, conveyors, and other heavy equipment used in steel plants. Prepare general arrangement drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, and 3D models for complex assemblies. Carry out design calculations including load estimation, structural analysis, drive selection, shaft & bearing design, and fatigue analysis. Select appropriate materials, bearings, gearboxes, couplings, wheels, and drive systems based on application. Ensure welded and fabricated structures meet strength, durability, and safety requirements. Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure reliable assembly and smooth operation. Collaborate with hydraulics, electrical, and automation teams for integrated equipment design. Provide technical support during manufacturing, shop assembly, and commissioning at customer sites. Ensure compliance with international standards (DIN, ISO, BIS, ASME) for steel plant equipment design. Key Skills & Competencies: Proven expertise in mechanical design of heavy machinery, bulk material handling, and steel plant equipment. Proficiency in CAD software (preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks). Strong knowledge of shafts, bearings, gears, welded structures, rolling components, and drive systems. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for structural strength and fatigue life estimation. Familiarity with standards such as DIN, ISO, ASME, BIS for mechanical design. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to handle complex projects. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Eligibility Criteria: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering 15+ years of experience in mechanical design of heavy industrial/steel plant equipment. Track record in design and successful execution of steel industry machinery such as palletizing discs, transfer cars, conveyors, ladle handling systems, or similar equipment.
