We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IMS Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in remote access to IMS-Transaction Manager (IMS-TM) and IMS-Database (IMS-DB), with hands-on experience using the RYO Roll-Your-Own remote library to connect C applications to IMS-DB. Additionally, this role requires practical experience with IMS Connect. A strong understanding of COBOL, Python, and Linux is essential for success in this position. The selected candidate will also serve as a thought leader, driving innovation and shaping the direction of our IMS technologies.
Job specifics/responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain solutions for accessing IMS-TM and IMS-DB remotely, ensuring secure and efficient communication.
- Assist in creating a new RYO Roll-Your-Own remote library to integrate C applications with IMS-DB effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements and implement robust IMS solutions.
- Develop, test, and debug high-quality COBOL and Python applications for interfacing with IMS systems.
- Optimize database queries and transaction workflows to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to IMS systems, remote connectivity, Linux-based environments, and IMS Connect.
- Document technical specifications, architecture, and procedures for maintaining IMS solutions.
- Act as a thought leader within the organization, introducing innovative solutions and strategies to improve IMS systems and processes.
Key deliverables/accountabilities:
- Cataloguing different out of the box ways to remotely connect to IMS
- Create reference / sample implementation for others to use a base patter
- The samples will include both Batch and real-time processing
- Work the team to create automated scripts
- to enable remote access to IMS
- To create a generic API service layer for remote access
- Work with the team to improve interoperability between IMS and DB2
- Implement automation according to technical plan, cost and timeframe
- Might also include architect tasks as required by project

Working relationships:
Education (degree) and professional experience required:
- Degree in computer science, information technology, information systems or electrical engineering or equivalent
- At least 3 years experience in an advanced support role or equivalent
- Customer facing experience
