Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Material Selection & Development

  • Select and design materials for product applications, ensuring performance, durability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop new materials or improve existing materials to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

Metallurgical Testing & Analysis:

  • Conduct physical and mechanical testing of materials, including tensile, hardness, fatigue, and impact tests.
  • Analyse test results to assess material properties and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform failure analysis to diagnose issues with materials or products, including root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.

Process Improvement

  • Work with SBU team to optimize material processing techniques in special processes like - heat treatment, plating, welding, casting, plastic moulding and so on.
  • Implement quality control procedures to monitor material performance and consistency.

Research & Development

  • Engage in R&D activities to explore innovative material solutions, advanced alloys, and new technologies.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, material technologies, and standards.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production, to ensure the materials used meet project specifications and performance criteria.
    Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, summarizing findings and recommendations.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as ASTM, ISO, and other applicable certifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to materials specifications, testing protocols, and compliance.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications

  • Diploma /BE/B. tech in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in material science and metallurgy, preferably in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or energy.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of material properties, testing methodologies, and metallurgical processes (e.g., heat treatment, welding, plating, casting, forging, mass finishing & surface coating).
