Mern Stack Developer

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain the Scrapingdog API layer and its dashboard infrastructure (Node.js, Express, React)
  
• Optimise and scale our MongoDB-backed data models for speed and reliability
  
• Implement robust job queues, caching layers, and credit metering logic
  
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
  
• Deploy and manage services on DigitalOcean (droplets)
  
• Improve monitoring, observability, and fault tolerance across our stack
  
• Develop and maintain web scraping modules using Puppeteer, Playwright, and headless browsers
  
• Collaborate with the infrastructure, browser, and product teams to bring new scraping features to life
  
• Help evolve our architecture to support 10x more scale and usage
  

Who You Are

• 4+ years of experience building production-grade backend systems
  
• Expert in Node.js, Express, React and MongoDB
  
• Hands-on experience with web scraping techniques (browser automation and headless browsers are a plus)
  
• Comfortable designing APIs and working across multiple services
  
• Familiar with Redis, job queues, rate limiting, and background task processing
  
• Enjoy working autonomously and taking projects from idea to launch
  
• Pragmatic, fast-moving, and excited about working on large-scale systems
  

Bonus Points

• Experience scaling concurrent APIs under high traffic
  
• Familiarity with distributed systems and event-driven architectures
  
• Past work on developer platforms or scraping tools
  
• Open-source contributions
  
• Previous startup experience or ex-founder
  
• Familiarity with scaling apps across cloud providers (DigitalOcean, AWS, GCP, Azure)
