Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist focused on Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records to ensure compliance with HCC guidelines, thus supporting quality patient care and facilitating appropriate reimbursement.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures in compliance with HCC guidelines.
Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM codes for various medical conditions and procedures based on clinical documentation.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure completeness and accuracy of medical records.
Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance standards related to HCC coding.
Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and provide feedback for improvement.
Prepare reports and documentation for coding audits and quality assurance processes.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related field is preferred.
Certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, COC) is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM coding and HCC guidelines.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication skills to interact with medical staff and team members.
