Job Description

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Department: Biochemistry/Immunology

Location: Baroda Central Lab

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Immunology, or related life sciences discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 months of hands-on experience in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) within a clinical laboratory or diagnostic setup.

Key Responsibilities: Quality Control & Assurance:

  • Perform daily Internal Quality Control (IQC) runs on Biochemistry analyzers and Immunology machines.
  • Monitor and document QC results, identify deviations, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Participate in Inter-Laboratory Comparison (ILC) and External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS) and analyze performance reports.
  • Maintain and review quality logs, deviation reports, and corrective/preventive action records.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Prepare and manage NABL documentation, including SOPs, calibration records, validation protocols, and audit trails.
  • Ensure all instruments and procedures comply with NABL standards and other regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, and implement corrective measures as needed.

Technical Support:

  • Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and validation of laboratory instruments.
  • Take initiative in learning new machines and updating SOPs and validation records accordingly.
  • Train junior staff or new joiners in quality protocols and machine handling when required.

Computer & Reporting Skills:

  • Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) and MS Office for reporting, data entry, and documentation.
  • Prepare periodic quality summary reports for internal review and audits.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of quality management systems in diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with NABL documentation and compliance protocols.
  • Knowledge of IQC, ILC, and EQAS procedures.
  • Computer literacy – proficient in Excel, Word, and basic lab software.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
