Job Summary

As a Medical Coder Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training to new and existing coders, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, and promoting professional growth. Your expertise will help strengthen our coding team’s accuracy, efficiency, and understanding of evolving healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for inpatient, outpatient, and/or professional coding, tailored to various experience levels.
• Stay up-to-date on coding guidelines (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, etc.) and ensure training content reflects current standards and regulatory changes.
• Conduct periodic coding audits to assess accuracy and provide feedback.
• Mentor and support coders to improve performance and stay certified.
• Collaborate with leadership and compliance teams to implement best practices.
• Create and maintain training materials, manuals, and e-learning modules.

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent credential required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of coding experience; prior training or teaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with EHR systems and coding software.
