Job Description

Job Summary:

Medical Coder

Key Responsibilities:

Review
patient medical records, physician notes, lab reports, and clinical documentation
to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
Ensure coding is
accurate, complete, and compliant
with regulatory and organizational standards.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, guidelines, and regulations (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and HIPAA).
Support
medical billing and insurance claim submission
processes.
Conduct periodic
audits
to ensure coding accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
Assist in
reporting and analysis
related to coding, billing, and revenue cycle.
Participate in continuing education programs and training to maintain certification and improve skills.
Adhere to
confidentiality, privacy, and ethical standards
in handling patient data.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in
hospital, clinic, or insurance coding
.
Knowledge of
revenue cycle management and insurance claim processing
.
Familiarity with
medical audits and compliance requirements
.
Additional certifications such as
RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
or
AHIMA credentials
.
