Job Title: Emergency Medicine (EM) Inpatient Medical Coder

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Inpatient (EM IP) Medical Coder with experience in Emergency Department (ED) and/or Multispecialty and Outpatient (OP) coding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately assigning diagnosis and procedure codes in compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department medical records
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation
• Code Emergency Medicine inpatient and outpatient encounters
• Ensure compliance with AAPC, AHIMA, CMS, and payer-specific guidelines
• Maintain productivity and quality standards
• Identify documentation gaps and work with providers for clarification
• Perform coding for multispecialty encounters when required
• Adhere to HIPAA and data privacy regulations

Required Skills & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in Emergency Medicine Inpatient coding
• Hands-on experience with ED or Multispecialty coding
• Experience in Outpatient (OP) coding is a plus
• Strong knowledge of EM E/M leveling (99281–99285)
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
• Familiarity with encoder and EHR systems
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

Certifications (Mandatory/Preferred):

• CPC, CCS, or CCA (AAPC/AHIMA certified)
