Mechanical Product Development Engineer with specialization in plastic

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product development for

  plastic components and assemblies

  .
• Drive

  material selection

  considering performance, cost, compliance, and sustainability.
• Create

  3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings

  with GD&T for production.
• Perform

  Moldflow/FEA simulations

  to optimize designs for manufacturability and reliability.
• Collaborate with toolmakers/suppliers for

  injection molding tool design, review, and validation

  .
• Resolve

  tooling and production issues

  (warpage, sink marks, shrinkage, weld lines).Ensure

  compliance with industry standards

  (UL, ISO, RoHS, REACH, FDA if applicable).
• Support

  prototype development and testing

  (3D printing, CNC, soft tooling).
• Conduct and document

  DFMEA/PFMEA

  , and lead root cause investigations for failures.
• Provide

  technical leadership

  , mentoring junior engineers and guiding design reviews.
• Partner with sourcing and supply chain teams to achieve

  cost, quality, and delivery targets

  .Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience

  in product development with a focus on plastics.
• Strong knowledge of

  engineering plastics

  (ABS, PC, Nylon, composites, high-temp).
• Proficiency in

  CAD tools

  (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or NX).
• Hands-on experience with

  Moldflow analysis, DFM/DFA principles, GD&T

  .
• Expertise in

  injection molding processes

  , tooling design reviews, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in

  tolerance analysis

  for multi-part plastic assemblies.
• Familiarity with

  environmental & regulatory compliance

  (UL, ISO, FDA, RoHS, REACH).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work in

  cross-functional teams

  and manage supplier interactions.

Preferred candidate profile

• Exposure to

  other plastics processes

  (extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming).
• Knowledge of

  environmental testing

  (humidity, UV, chemical resistance).
• Hands-on prototyping experience (3D printing, rapid prototyping).
• Contributions to

  patents, innovation projects, or IP generation

  .
• Experience with

  Agile/Scrum product development processes
