Job Title: Engineer - Draftsman

Tasks / Roles and Responsibilities

• Create and update 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
• Develop detailed drawings, including BOMs and fabrication drawings.
• Create fabrication-ready drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, and material specifications.
• Collaborate with production, quality teams to ensure feasibility and accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to GD&T, drafting standards, and internal guidelines.
• Support reverse engineering and continuous improvement activities.
• Optimize material usage and contribute to cost reduction through efficient designs.
• Analyze fabrication drawings to determine material requirements.
• Prepare nesting and cutting plans using software like OMNIWIN.
• Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure material availability and cutting feasibility.
• Optimize material usage and reduce scrap through intelligent nesting techniques.  Update and maintain records of cutting plans and material usage reports.
• Ensure cutting plans are aligned with job priority, machine capacity, and delivery schedules.
• Implement continuous improvement in cutting operations through feedback and process analysis.

Job requirements (Education, Experience, Additional qualifications)

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: 2+ years of experience in 3d model/Design/cutting plan preparation/nesting/Material Planning in fabrication, structural & heavy engineering industries.

Mandatory Skills:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and drafting standards.
• Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Knowledge of fabrication processes like welding, Rolling, bending, and machining.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings and material standards.
• Understanding of CNC cutting processes (plasma, laser, oxy-fuel).
• Strong knowledge of raw material sizes and standard plate dimensions.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to FEA/simulation tools (e.g., Solidworks Simulation).
• Basic project management and documentation skills.
• Experience in material optimization techniques.
• Exposure to ERP(Axpert) systems.
• Strong SolidWorks knowledge for drawing interpretation.
• Awareness of safety standards in material handling and cutting.
• Understanding of manufacturing and assembly constraints.
• EOHS - Awareness and participation in EOHS Programs / Initiatives
• Good knowledge on ISO 9001:2015 and basics on ISO 14001: 2015 & ISO 45001:2018 standards

Mandatory Certification: Autocad, Solidworks
