Job title: Draftsman - Mechanical

Experience: Minimum 2 to 5 years in a fabrication or heavy engineering environment

Education: Diploma/BE/BTech - Mechanical Engineering

Work Location: Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu (Local candidates preferred)

Purpose

To support the design and production teams by preparing accurate 2D/3D fabrication drawings, layout plans, and detailed assembly drawings for pressure vessels, storage tanks, structural steel, and skid-mounted packages in compliance with relevant codes and client requirements.

Tasks / Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D and 3D fabrication drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and layout plans for heavy engineering components, including pressure vessels, storage tanks, skids, and structural assemblies.
• Generate detailed shop drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) for production use.
• Create and modify models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and PV Elite for pressure vessels and structural elements.
• Perform basic simulation and structural checks using STAAD.Pro as required.
• Revise drawings based on design changes, production feedback, or site modifications.
• Ensure all drawings comply with ASME, IS, and client-specific codes and standards.
• Maintain drawing records, revision history, and support documentation.
• Coordinate with design, production, quality, and procurement teams for smooth project execution.

Job requirements (education, experience, additional qualifications)

Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a drafting/design role in a fabrication or heavy engineering environment.

Mandatory Skills:

• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Working knowledge of PV Elite and STAAD.Pro.
• Good understanding of fabrication practices, GD&T, welding symbols, and material standards.
• Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, IS 2825, IS 800, and MBMA standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documents

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in oil & gas, process, or power sector design.
• Exposure to shop floor practices and inspection procedures.
• Communication skills in Tamil and English.
• Capability to interact with clients, vendors, and internal departments.
