Job summaryThe Mechanical Draftsman will create, modify, and manage detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and models for complex mechanical components, equipment, and systems. This role requires precision and the ability to interpret engineering designs and translate them into accurate drawings for manufacturing and installation, in line with relevant industry standards and company specifications. Responsibilities

• Drafting and modeling: Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for components, assemblies, and systems, using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Documentation: Create general arrangement (GA), fabrication, machining, and piping drawings for heavy engineering equipment, including pressure vessels, boilers, and other process equipment.
• Technical collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and production teams to review and interpret design requirements and resolve potential manufacturing issues.
• Material management: Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for projects, and work with the SAP MM module for tracking and procurement.
• Standards and quality: Ensure all technical drawings comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) and company quality assurance requirements.
• Revision control: Manage drawing files, revisions, and project documentation systematically to ensure all stakeholders are using the most current information.
• Problem-solving: Assist the engineering team by identifying and communicating potential design or production problems and suggesting effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Drafting or a related field.
• Experience: 2–5 years of proven experience as a Mechanical Draftsman, preferably within a heavy engineering or process equipment manufacturing environment.
• CAD skills: Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and SolidWorks for 3D modeling.
• Industry knowledge: Familiarity with the sugar, nuclear, defense, or similar heavy engineering industries would be advantageous.
• SAP knowledge: Basic awareness of the SAP MM module for managing materials and BOMs is a plus.
• Technical skills: Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Soft skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
