Role Overview Position: Design Engineer The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed engineering designs for municipal solid waste and wastewater treatment systems. This role demands strong technical expertise in mechanical, environmental, or chemical engineering, as well as familiarity with relevant equipment and process systems. The engineer will ensure that all designs comply with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities: 1. Process & Equipment Design Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangement (GA) drawings. Perform equipment sizing, material selection, and component specification. Design layouts for treatment plants (solid and liquid waste systems). 2. Engineering Calculations & Specifications: Prepare and validate engineering calculations for pumps, blowers, scrubbers, piping, and other system components. Specify mechanical equipment and ensure compatibility with process design and site conditions. 3. Drawing & Documentation: Generate and review 2D/3D CAD drawings, fabrication drawings, and design documentation. Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical files, design notes, and BOMs. 4. Standard Compliance: Ensure designs comply with national and international codes (e.g., IS, ASME, API). Coordinate with QA/QC teams for design validation and internal audits. 5. Coordination & Support: Work closely with proposal, procurement, and execution teams to ensure design alignment with project goals. Support site execution teams with technical clarifications and as-built documentation. 6. Client & Vendor Interaction Interface with clients and third-party consultants for design approvals. Collaborate with vendors to ensure correct interpretation and integration of specifications. Role & responsibilities The Mechanical Draughtsman at SFC Environmental Technologies Ltd. plays a vital role in transforming mechanical & Civil design concepts into precise, code-compliant drawings that enable seamless fabrication, erection, and commissioning. This position ensures all mechanical layouts such as piping systems, equipment GAs, Civil GAs and structural supports are executed with accuracy, technical integrity, and clarity. The role contributes significantly to the quality and efficiency of wastewater and solid waste treatment projects by enabling error-free execution at the site level. The key responsibilities of this role include, 1. Drawing Preparation & Detailing: Prepare GA, layout, sectional, and isometric drawings for mechanical and piping systems using AutoCAD. Develop accurate MTOs and BOQs from piping and equipment layouts. Prepare P&ID, PFD & Process Plant Layouts. Prepare Civil & Mechanical GADs for various structure. Understanding of water treatment process equipment layouts specific to RO skids, membranes, pumps, piping manifolds, and UV disinfection units. 2. Coordination with Engineers & Project Teams: Interpret P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and engineering sketches Collaborate with mechanical, civil, electrical, and process teams for clash-free layouts. Incorporate red-line markups from engineering or site teams 3. Drawing Management & Compliance: Ensure all mechanical drawings are developed as per relevant codes and SFC drafting standards. Maintain proper revision control, document archiving, and versioning. Support preparation of as-built drawings post-commissioning 4. Software Utilization: Work primarily on AutoCAD 2D; optionally use 3D tools (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D & Revit) for complex layouts or assemblies Use MS Excel for tabulation of MTOs, BOQs, and drawing logs 5. Site & Vendor Interface: Coordinate with vendors to incorporate interface requirements or dimensional data. Incorporate site measurement inputs or feedback into revised layouts 6. Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior draughtspersons to maintain output quality and skill development. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 1.
