Job Description

As a Materials Engineer at Siemens Energy, your role will involve initiating and executing testing programs to determine material properties and develop material behavior methods. Your responsibilities will include: - Defining material test programs and coordinating testing with internal and external workshops and laboratories. - Evaluating test results and creating material property curves for component design. - Identifying existing and new methodologies to describe material behavior. - Defining and managing project schedule, milestones, and budget. - Supporting component design in urgent materials-related testing concepts and consultancy. - Inspecting specimens and fracture surfaces in the SE laboratories. To excel in this role, you should meet the following qualifications: - PhD or Master of Science in materials science, solid state physics, or a similar field, with 5 to 8 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience. - Deep understanding of materials science, materials mechanics, and failure mechanisms, with significant knowledge of steels and nickel-based alloys. - Knowledge of gas turbine and steam turbine technology, experience in programming (e.g., Python, R, VBA), data analysis, and basic FEA modeling. - Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary research networks/project consortia and strong project management skills. - Excellent team and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle multiple urgent topics simultaneously and set priorities. - Advanced English proficiency, German language skills are a plus.
