Marine Mechanic

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Marine Mechanical Fitter with hands-on experience in overhauling and maintenance of shipboard machinery. The ideal candidate should be proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing marine pumps, main and auxiliary engines, valves, and various deck & engine room machineries.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform overhauling, servicing, and troubleshooting of marine equipment, including:
• Centrifugal, screw, and gear pumps
• Main & auxiliary engines (various makes)
• Valves (manual, pneumatic, hydraulic)
• Deck machinery – mooring winches, capstans, windlass, cranes
• Engine room machinery – separators, compressors, steering gear, etc.
• Carry out routine and preventive maintenance as per OEM recommendations.
• Inspect, dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical components and systems.
• Conduct alignment, measurements, and clearances using precision tools.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and service instructions.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with yard and vessel procedures.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and ship staff for job execution.
• Prepare work reports, service records, and documentation after job completion.

Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Marine, or related engineering field.
• Proven experience in ship repair, onboard maintenance, or marine machinery overhauling.
• Should have 7 -10 years hands on experience in marine sector.
• Strong understanding of marine systems, mechanical components, and tools.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Willingness to work onboard vessels, dry docks, and workshops as required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in overhauling of pumps & engines.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and rotating machinery.
• Basic understanding of safety practices and marine regulations.
