Manager/Quantity Surveyor (Civil)

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Analyzing designs to estimate material, labor, and equipment costs and setting project budgets.
• Tendering & Contracts: Preparing tender documents, negotiating with subcontractors, and managing contractual agreements.
• Financial Control: Valuing work done, managing payments, and reporting on project finances.
• Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating financial and contractual risks.
• Site Supervision: Visiting sites to monitor progress, ensure compliance, and resolve cost-related issues.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

• Strong numerical, analytical, and IT skills (including BIM software).
• Excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of construction principles, contract law, and health & safety.
• Problem-solving, creativity, and commercial awareness.

Career Path

• Education: Often starts with a degree or diploma in a related field (Civil Engineering, Construction Management).
• Entry: Apprenticeships or postgraduate conversion courses can provide entry.
