Job Description

As the Transportation Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of the transport department. This includes dispatching, routing, and tracking delivery vehicles, as well as ensuring compliance with all transport policies, legislation, and procedures. You will be accountable for managing, monitoring, and developing a team of drivers and serving as the first point of contact for all drivers. Additionally, you will be responsible for fleet vehicle management, ensuring that all transport fleet vehicles are properly maintained and serviced. This involves organizing vehicle checks, identifying operational issues, potential problems, and opportunities to improve efficiency. Your role will also involve liaising and coordinating with various professionals, maintaining necessary documents, and assisting with high severity requests as needed. You will oversee communication responsibilities at both internal and external levels. Team management is a crucial aspect of this role, where you will focus on enhancing the skills and development of every individual in the team. This includes providing direction, motivation, and training, as well as coordinating with cross-functional teams. You will guide and mentor team members in achieving objectives and improving performance through counseling and skills enhancement. In terms of strategic planning, you will develop and lead the plan to deliver key target objectives. This includes managing the transportation department, staff, protocols, disciplines, and processes in alignment with strategic business objectives. You will continuously review and modify plans and procedures to enhance effectiveness and ensure alignment with the strategic intent. Quality service delivery is essential, and you will be responsible for implementing best practices across relevant business functions to fulfill business requirements while aligning with the company's vision, mission, and strategy. Financial management will also be part of your role, involving the preparation of operating budgets and prudent management of organizational resources to ensure business efficiency, service quality, and cost-effective operations. You will analyze expenditures and financial information to develop plans, policies, and budgets aimed at increasing profits and improving services. Staff management is another key responsibility, including arranging for the induction and training of new staff, maintaining accurate administrative records, appraising staff performance, and taking disciplinary measures when necessary. Finally, you will be accountable for resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently, ensuring all site and customer objectives are achieved, and analyzing all accident investigations. You may also recommend or authorize capital expenditures to enhance operational efficiency and service quality. If you have a BA/B.Sc/MBA qualification and 8-12 years of experience, possess splendid interpersonal skills and good communication skills, and are proficient in utilizing these skills to guide and facilitate business unit leaders and senior managers, then this role as a Transportation Manager could be a perfect fit for you.,
