Job Description

You will be playing a crucial role as a Manager of Design Operations at Siemens, where you will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring on-time delivery of all design and estimate requests from the Sales and Presales teams globally. In this people manager role, you will oversee Request Inflow Management, maintain the Quality and Accuracy of Design, and focus on the Personnel Development of a team of approximately 15 Design Engineers. This role will involve matrix reporting and will be based out of the Global Technology Center in Chennai. Your key responsibilities will include: - Reporting to GTC leadership for the People and Capability development of the team and collaborating with the US-based Director for department planning and initiatives - Coordinating with the US-based Director for team management, department planning, and initiatives - Managing design and estimate requests for the team - Collaborating with Sales and Pre-Sales teams to ensure timely request fulfillment and process adherence - Participating in internal design meetings to ensure customer-specific intent is met before finalizing drawings for production - Focusing on continuous skill improvement of the team through training and special projects - Identifying solutions to enhance design team efficiency and productivity - Maintaining Key Customer Design Guidelines and cross-checking Customer Proposals including Bills of Materials, Bill of Quantities, etc. - Developing and maintaining the Design Playbook - Creating project-specific Information Memorandums as required - Managing HR-related topics such as employee evaluations, hiring, and time-off We are looking for candidates with: - 8+ years of relevant work experience in Electrical construction engineering or project management - A minimum of 5 years of People Management experience is highly encouraged - Hands-on experience with Autocad, Bluebeam Studio, and Revit - A strong customer service mentality with a desire to exceed customer expectations - Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Salesforce - Technical background understanding system designs - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Self-organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision - Flexibility with work timings This position is based in Chennai, offering you the opportunity to collaborate with teams that impact entire cities, countries, and the future landscape.
