Job Description

As a Compound Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing new compounds according to customer requirements while adhering to set norms. Your role also includes enhancing product design performance and technical economy of existing compounds. Key Responsibilities: - Liaise with Cross-Functional Teams (CFTs) to understand New Product Development (NPD) plans and Product Improvement plans - Coordinate with the purchase department/vendors to procure necessary raw materials for R&D trials and lab - Prepare a detailed Factory trial plan for rubber compound mixing processes including timelines - Ensure availability of machinery, equipment, and resources for compound mixing - Monitor compounding expenditure to align with the allocated budget Compound Development for New Products: - Develop rubber compound mixtures by selecting the type of rubber, filler amounts, curatives, and accelerators to meet product standards - Provide inputs for Lab mixing paper report and oversee lab mixing processes - Conduct Factory trials to ensure adherence to the mixing plan - Develop test methods to simulate compound performance - Review factory compound property analysis reports for compliance with specifications - Validate products to ensure they meet objectives Improvement of Existing Compounds: - Work on technical economy projects including analysis of existing compounds and trials for alternative materials - Analyze field failures to enhance existing compound mixtures - Initiate corrective actions for product performance improvements - Conduct reverse engineering to estimate formulations in competitor products People Management: - Conduct timely team performance appraisals and offer constructive feedback - Maintain high team morale within the compounding team - Ensure team is well-trained, equipped, and motivated for timely and cost-effective completion of work - Facilitate capability building within the team Qualifications: - Education: B. Tech/ M.
