Job Profile: Maintenance Supervisor Electrical & Mechanical

Objective of the Role

To supervise and coordinate all day-to-day maintenance activities of electrical and mechanical Maintenance, ensuring maximum equipment uptime, safety compliance, and efficient resource utilization in support of plant operations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Preventive & Routine Maintenance

  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules for electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to maintenance checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor performance of machines and initiate corrective actions before failures occur.

Breakdown Maintenance

  • Lead troubleshooting and immediate response to breakdowns in machinery and utilities.
  • Coordinate repairs and ensure minimal machine downtime.
  • Maintain records of breakdowns, repairs, and root cause analyses.

Electrical Maintenance

  • Supervise maintenance of electrical panels, motors, transformers, and lighting systems.
  • Check and calibrate sensors, relays, and PLC-based systems and other electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and proper load management.
  • Know About the CNC,VMC, Gear Hobbing, Conduction Hardening & Tempering, M/c Maintenance

Mechanical Maintenance

  • Oversee maintenance of mechanical components including gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, bearings, shafts, and hydraulics.
  • Ensure proper lubrication, alignment, and condition monitoring of mechanical parts.
  • Address mechanical wear and tear proactively.

Spare Parts & Inventory Control

  • Coordinate with the store/purchase department for spare part availability.
  • Monitor critical spare stock levels and raise requisitions as required.
  • Ensure proper documentation of spare consumption.

Team Supervision

  • Lead and supervise a team of electricians, fitters, and technicians.
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Train junior staff on equipment handling, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily maintenance logs and ERP entries.
  • Report equipment status, maintenance activities, and pending issues to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Support audit-related documentation and compliance.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement among the team.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Machine downtime due to maintenance
  • Preventive maintenance adherence rate
  • First-time fix rate for breakdowns
  • Safety incident rate
  • Spare part lead time and availability
  • Team productivity and task completion rate

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems
  • Hands-on skills in diagnostics, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Familiar with ERP-based maintenance tracking
  • Team leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to issues
