Job Description

Job Purpose:

To ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all handling equipment and vehicles (Reach Stacker, Forklift, Truck Trailer, Reach Truck, BOPT, DG Sets, etc.) at the CFS. The role also involves managing and deploying the ground team (Mechanics, Electricians & Helpers) as per maintenance needs, minimizing downtime, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

    • Perform and oversee scheduled preventive maintenance and timely corrective repairs on all equipment.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
  • Ground Team Management & Deployment:

    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of Mechanics, Electricians, and Helpers.
    • Assess daily maintenance requirements and allocate ground team resources accordingly.
    • Ensure team members are trained, equipped, and briefed on safety and task-specific requirements.
    • Monitor team performance and provide guidance for skill development.
  • Equipment Handling:

    • Diagnose faults and carry out/oversee repairs on Reach Stackers, Forklifts, Truck Trailers, Reach Trucks, BOPT, DG Sets, and other related equipment.
    • Ensure all equipment is in safe and optimal working condition.
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and company policies during all maintenance activities.
    • Conduct safety inspections and report hazards or unsafe practices immediately.
    • Ensure the ground team always uses appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and breakdowns.
    • Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to avoid recurrence of issues.
    • Suggest and drive improvements to maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
  • Tool & Inventory Management:

    • Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, raising requisitions as needed.
  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Complete maintenance logs, checklists, and incident reports accurately.
    • Support audits and compliance checks by providing necessary documentation.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in material handling equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Experience in supervising and deploying ground teams (Mechanics, Electricians, Helpers).
    • Ability to motivate, train, and develop team members.
  • Safety Awareness:

    • Thorough understanding of workplace safety standards and best practices.
    • Experience with safety tools and methodologies (e.g., LOTO, JSA, PPE).
  • Problem Solving:

    • Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA) processes.
    • Analytical mindset to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Teamwork & Communication:

    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and ground staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B. Tech. in Mechanical/Electrical/Automobile Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance of material handling equipment (preferred).
  • Experience in team management is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and documentation.
