Job Description

Job Summary: We are looking for a Mainframe Support Engineer with hands-on experience in Java to join our IT support team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing legacy mainframe systems while also contributing to Java-based integration and modernization efforts. Key Responsibilities: Provide production support and maintenance for Mainframe applications (COBOL, JCL, DB2, etc.). Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to batch jobs, online transactions, and mainframe performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe systems with Java-based applications. Develop and maintain Java components for application interfaces or modernization projects. Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and preventive maintenance. Assist in code migrations, deployments, and environment setups. Write and maintain technical documentation and support artifacts. Required Skills: Mainframe: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2 CICS (if applicable) TSO/ISPF, File-Aid, Abend-AID CA7 or Control-M (Job scheduling) Debugging tools like Xpediter Java: Core Java / J2EE REST/SOAP Web Services Spring Boot (Preferred) Maven/Gradle, Git, Jenkins JSON, XML, JDBC Nice to Have: Experience in mainframe-to-cloud migration or legacy modernization Exposure to microservices architecture Familiarity with APIs, Kafka, or messaging queues Knowledge of DevOps tools (GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible) Agile or ITIL processes Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving ability Good communication and collaboration skills Willingness to work in 24x7 support or rotational shifts (if applicable) Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
