Job Description

The IMS System Programmer role requires a candidate with a minimum of 5-10 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe IMS v13, 14, 15 on z/OS Database. As an IMS System Programmer, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support for Incident, problem, and change tickets in addition to project tasks related to Mainframe server support operations focusing on the Information Management System (IMS) Database/Data Communications (DBDC) infrastructure. Your key responsibilities will include: - Installing, migrating, customizing, and maintaining IMS system software and related program products software. - Working with SMP/E maintenance utility, DBMS security interfaces, and connecting DBMS interfaces to other subsystems (such as DB2/CICS) and network VTAM/IP functionality. - Planning and executing Health Checks and Analysis for IMS database organization. - Conducting performance analysis and tuning for DBMS subsystems. - Utilizing IMS Monitoring Tool proficiently for monitoring purposes. - Demonstrating proficiency in JCL, TSO, SDSF, JES2, SYSVIEW, and SMP/E. - Ability to debug and diagnose DBMS system and utility software. - Possessing experience in IMS Sysplex and data sharing expertise. - Conducting various types of IMS restarts (COLD/WARM/ERE) and Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and execution. - Familiarity with IMS SYSGEN process including defining/adding Transactions and Programs to the IMS system. - Understanding IMS Controls Blocks (DBDs, PSBs, ACBs) and IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) concepts along with RECON datasets. - Knowledgeable about IMS Logging including OLDS, SLDS, WADS, and RLDS. - Having a good understanding of Incident, Asset, Problem, and Change Management based on ITIL principles. As an IMS System Programmer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing the IMS infrastructure while ensuring efficient support and operation of Mainframe systems.,
