Skill Set & Job Responsibilities

• Mail Server Configuration and Maintenance:
• Set up and configure mail server software to meet the organization's requirements.
• Monitor server performance and conduct regular maintenance tasks such as updates and patches.
• Manage user accounts, email aliases, and distribution lists.
• Implement and enforce email policies, including storage limits and retention policies.
• Security and Compliance:
• Implement security measures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of email communications.
• Configure spam filters, antivirus software, and encryption protocols.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
• Provide technical support to users experiencing email-related issues.
• Troubleshoot email delivery problems, bounce-backs, and spam complaints.
• Collaborate with other teams to resolve complex issues.
• Performance Optimization:
• Optimize mail server performance to ensure timely and reliable email delivery.
• Monitor server logs and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Implement optimizations such as load balancing and caching to enhance server efficiency.
• Documentation and Training:
• Maintain documentation of mail server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Develop training materials and provide guidance to users on email best practices.
• Conduct training sessions to educate users on email client setup, configuration, and usage.
  

Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• Proven experience in administering and managing mail server systems (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Postfix, PMTA, Sendmail).
• Strong understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) and DNS fundamentals.
• Knowledge of email security best practices, including encryption and authentication methods.
• Familiarity with spam filtering techniques and antivirus solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Certifications in email server or Linux administration are a plus.
