Job Title: Machine Shop Supervisor (Gas industry)

Pay Range: ₹20,000 Per month

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations of the machine shop in our gas manufacturing unit. The role involves supervising machinists and operators, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining quality standards, and enforcing safety practices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC, VMC, and conventional machines and be capable of managing manpower and resources efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate machine shop activities to meet daily/weekly production targets.
• Allocate work to machinists/operators based on job priorities and skill sets.
• Monitor machining processes (CNC, VMC, lathe, milling, drilling, etc.) to ensure product accuracy and adherence to drawings/specifications.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and coordinate with the QA/QC department for inspections.
• Review production schedules and manage workflow to minimize delays.
• Maintain discipline, safety, and housekeeping standards in the shop floor.
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and report breakdowns promptly.
• Train and guide machine operators on process improvements, tool usage, and safety protocols.
• Maintain records of production, manpower, rejections, and downtime.
• Coordinate with the Planning and Purchase team for raw material, tooling, and consumables availability.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical knowledge of machining processes (CNC, VMC, turning, milling, drilling, grinding).
• Understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining parameters.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of operators and machinists.
• Familiarity with ISO / quality standards in manufacturing.
• Problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and reporting abilities.

Qualifications

• Diploma / ITI in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience in a machine shop, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in the gas industry / precision engineering / heavy machinery / automotive component manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office is an added advantage.
