Machine Operator

As a steel coil slitting machine operator, your role will involve setting up and operating the machine according to work orders and production schedules. This includes loading and unloading coils using overhead cranes or forklifts. You will be responsible for adjusting slitting knives and tooling to ensure accurate widths and tolerances, as well as monitoring machine operation for malfunctions or product defects. Quality checks must be performed to ensure that slit coils meet specifications such as width, burr, camber, and edge condition. It will be essential to maintain accurate production and inspection records, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot minor machine issues. Your commitment to following all safety procedures, wearing appropriate PPE, collaborating with team members, and effectively communicating with supervisors is crucial. Keeping the work area clean and organized is also part of your responsibilities.
